FAQs

DOES COLOR ANALYSIS WORK FOR EVERYONE?

Yes, that is one of the many beautiful things about color analysis — it works for everyone, regardless of skin tone, ethnicity, or race. During your appointment, we’ll talk about which of the commonly-shared color analysis “rules” and “tips” are unnecessarily limiting and/or flat-out incorrect - including those that are problematically white-centric.

One thing to keep in mind is that color analysis results are consistent over your lifetime (meaning, your season never changes) only after you’ve gone through puberty (which is different for everyone of course, but typically around age 15/16 is when you’re good to go.) As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions.

STUDIO FAQs

  • I use a unique, combination 22-season color analysis system - feel free to visit the My Approach and My Philosophy pages for more information!

  • I work a limited number of Saturdays, but these weekend appointments generally fill up quite quickly. If you do not see availability on my calendar, then all available weekend slots have already been taken.

Feel free to sign up for the Weekend Waitlist to receive an email when/if there is an opening on a Saturday due to rescheduling or cancellation.

  • I only offer in-person color analysis appointments at this time.

  • All analysis appointments include brief discussions on how to apply color analysis when making decisions about hair, make-up, and developing a cohesive wardrobe.

If you are interested in a more in-depth service that includes personalized recommendations, reviewing your current makeup, and testing different makeup colors and products, then you can book the "Makeup and Hair Consultation", either as an add-on to your original appointment, or as a separate appointment.

As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions!

  • I totally understand that you and your friends/family might have different interests with regard to add-on services.

Because of the structure of my appointments, I am unfortunately unable to accomodate different add-ons at the same time. I would recommend booking the small group color analysis appointment together to start, and then each person can schedule their Add-On service of choice for a different day/time. You can visit the “Previous Client Add-On” section of my booking page to do so. Thanks for your understanding!

  • Offering Add-On services that can be chosen a-la-carte ensures that your color analysis appointment is tailored to you and your specific needs. It also keeps the main service fee at a more accessible rate for those who are not interested in additional consultation topics. I don’t think anyone should have to hear about (or pay for!) information that doesn’t feel relevant to them.

The other benefit is, if you are on the fence about booking an Add-On service with your main color analysis appointment, you are more than welcome to wait until after your main service appointment before making a decision. Should you decide to book an add-on-service at that point, we can schedule your chosen Add-On service together, or you can book on your own on my website.

  • If your color analysis party/event is within 9 miles of Central Berkeley, your travel fee is included in the price of the service.

If your color analysis party/event is beyond 9 miles of Central Berkeley, travel fees are calculated as $2 per minute it takes to travel to you and back (beyond the included 9-mile radius from Central Berkeley) + the roundtrip cost of gas and tolls.

Exact fee will be calculated based on the address you provide during booking.

Preparing for your appointment

  • I am unfortunately only able to accomodate guests who have a booked appointment at this time. This is because a significant part of your service includes education and application pieces that anyone in the room would receive, regardless if I drape them or not. Thank you for your understanding.

Note: This does not apply to minors (age 17 and under) or if your guest is a previous client of mine who has already recieved a color analysis from me.

  • Clients are free to cancel or reschedule their appointment anytime up to 48 hours prior to their original appointment time.

Clients will be charged 50% of the booked appointment’s cost at the time of the missed appointment (i.e. are a "no-show" after 15 minutes) or if the client fails to cancel or reschedule their appointment, party, or event less than 48 hours in advance.

If you develop any cold/flu symptoms within 48 hours of your scheduled appointment time, I ask that you please reach out to me to reschedule to prevent spreading any illness to any future clients/myself. I will do my best to reschedule you as soon as possible. Per the above cancellation policy, you will be charged 50% of your original service fee at the time of the original appointment, but you can apply this fee to any future service, should you choose to reschedule. Thank you for your understanding!

  • Clothes — Feel free to wear any color top that is not a turtleneck or mockneck, as I will be using a drape to neutralize whatever color you’re wearing while I am analyzing you. If you wear a headscarf, turban, or other head covering, please wear a light neutral color (e.g. beige, white, cream, etc.) if possible.

Hair —  Please bring a hair tie or hair clip, so that we can easily keep your hair behind you/off of your face throughout the draping process.

Makeup/Face Products — Please do not wear any tinted face products or makeup (including tinted moisturizers/SPFs, foundation, concealer, BB/CC creams, color correctors, blush, bronzer, contour, or mascara). It can really affect the results!

Fake Tanning Products - Please do not use any fake tanners for at least a week (ideally two weeks) prior to your appointment.

Glasses — If you are person that wears contacts and glasses, wearing contacts to your appointment can help you to more easily see the changes in your face as we test different colors on you. But, if you only wear glasses, we can be flexible and accommodate for them.

  • Due to the limitations of my studio space, I am unfortunately unable to allow pets.

  • I bring nearly everything to you! The only thing you will need to provide is sufficient space directly in front of a medium to large -sized window and a chair for the person being analyzed to sit in.
